The App

The Polite app for Slack is designed to help you elevate your Slack communication by revising your messages to perfection. With this AI-powered tool, you can effortlessly craft 10 perfect messages per day for free. For those who want to write unlimited messages, a subscription is required.

How to use it

You can use the "/polite" Slash Command to invoke the revision of your message:

/polite You message.

AI Technology

The AI technology behind Polite uses natural language processing to understand your messages and suggest revisions to make them more polished and professional. The technology is actually quite famous: ChatGPT.

Capabilities and Limitations

While the AI is very good, it's important to note that depending on the context of the message, the output may not always be perfect. The Polite App works best for English messages, but it might also produce good results for other languages.

Data Privacy

To get all the particulars, you can refer to our data privacy statement. However, in brief, I only retain the essential data that is required for delivering the service. Specifically, this includes your

• Slack AppID and UserID
• Email Address
• The time when you used the /polite command to send a Slack message (please note that I do not save the actual message).

Essentially, that covers everything. However, it's important to note that the polite code transfers your message to the OpenAI API for processing. The API refines your message and returns the improved version. The high level summary of the OpenAI API data usage policies is as follows:

1. OpenAI will not use data submitted by customers via our API to train or improve our models
2. Any data sent through the API will be retained for abuse and misuse monitoring purposes for a maximum of 30 days, after which it will be deleted

This means that every trace of your message is gone within a month from the OpenAI servers. Also, your message is never stored on the polite.pro servers. Naturally, once you send the refined message, it will be stored on Slack servers.

Paid Plan

You can send 10 messages for free every day. If you exceed that limit, you'll either need to upgrade to a paid plan or wait 24 hours for another 10 free messages. With the paid plan, you can enjoy unlimited refined messages with a monthly recurring subscription.
